Lotus Notes Replacement Project
Purpose of this project was to replace all Lous Notes workflows across the organization with Power Automate Flows and Power Applications while utilizing dataverse.
Technology Utilized
Lotus Notes
All of the Lotus Notes applications were currently running and staff who managed them was accessible for us to utilize.
Power Applications
Used Model Driven and Canvas Applications for direct replacements of Nintex Forms.
M365
SharePoint / OneDrive / Teams was utilized for the source of the data and storage of documents.

Power Flows
Direct replacements of Nintex workflows were redone in Power Automate cloud flows.
Datverse
We utilized Dataverse to replace all applications data storage.

Challenge
The main challenge of this project was to fully replace 3 large applications that were a pillar to the operational capability of the organization. These applications helped the organization to perform daily management of the fulfillment and project execution pipelines.
Workflow Strategy
For all the features and functionality of Lotus notes applications we utilized Power Flows to perform these functions based on data changes or scheduled flows that looked for data driven decision making to perform a function.
Forms Strategy
Lotus Notes based application was easily replaced with Power Apps. Whether they wanted to utilize a simple model driven form or a complicated canvas application. Power Apps provided more than enough features to make this replacement at least a one-to-one match in features and functionality.
Result
We were able to save the organization over 500K annually in licensing costs by fully converting and removing all applications that were hosted by Lotus notes in the organization. Furthermore, we were able to hand the management of the applications back to the business instead of having IT be required to manage everything which made the business more effective and agile.
